Waiting, waiting, waiting

The sub-contractors have slowed down drastically. The electric is not done. The roof hasn't started. The windows were ordered a while ago but haven't yet arrived. And the plumbing work hasn't started for the new bathroom. Good thing I got another draw check from the mortgage company for +$20K. That should reignite the General Contractor's motivation...

Meanwhile, Michael built a kitchen island.

 

He procured a new range and oven as well.

No countertop yet. Still pondering that decision.
And today, we utilized many of the recently cut down trees to build and prep a raised garden bed. 
We did this in New York as well. It's more natural and less expensive, but the wood does rot and break down in a couple of years' time.
Cypress is learning to drive the tractor.
Jessie came to the property for the first time today. She sniffed around the inside of the house and around the property a lot. For now, she was tied up to a tree, which she did NOT like. We will put up fencing soon.

Well, I tried to extend our rental lease for August - but it's no dice. So, we have to be moved out (and in) by July 31st. Michael recently finished putting up all the drywall (walls and ceilings). We're waiting on an inspection from the city. It's scheduled for tomorrow.🤞 Michael installing drywall on the ceiling of Cypress's bedroom closet. New dishwasher. Check out those countertops! My husband and I are now the proud owners of a 1963-built, mid-century modern styled house in Greenville, South Carolina. The house is made from concrete blocks, many of which contain shaped surfaces painted pale pink. The car port has an entire wall of breeze blocks. I'm still learning the correct terminology and identification of many of these materials, architecture styles, and construction methods.  We have an ~$80K renovation financed/ scheduled for the major things: new roof, new windows, new heating/cooling system, and a new bathroom and closet added to the "den" to make it the new master bedroom.
